arte projects at Prospect.1/ thanks for making it a great success

arte projects, in partnership with Artadia will held an exhibition and series of events, arte projects at Prospect.1, in New Orleans which showcased accomplished, contemporary, multi-disciplinary artists from Louisiana, or who have recently made work in connection to Louisiana. The main exhibition and events took place at Gallery 527 Julia Street during the first two weeks of November, concurrent with the opening weeks of the Prospect.1 - US Biennial. There was an adjunct exhibition of New Orleans artists and workshop/ performance space at of The Colton School which ran through the entire period  of Prospect.1. The two-week exhibit and program was a charitable event created in support of the regional arts community and culminated in a silent auction of donated work - all proceeds of which will directly support two Louisiana artists at arte projects’ artist residency program arte farm which is located in the creative community of Woodstock, New York.

arte projects at Prospect.1 events will included a curated exhibition/ benefit auction, special performances and public events, with planned programs spanning the creative disciplines of drawing, painting, performance art, photography, multimedia, installation art and music - through the participation of many individuals dedicated to the Louisiana arts community, including: musician Theresa Andersson, conceptual artist Paul Chan, illustrator/ painter Lee Etheredge IV, multi-media artist William Joyce, multi-disciplinary performance artist Julia Mandle,  painter/ photographer Marilyn Minter, photographer Robert Polidori, sculptor/ social activist Robert Tannen, multi-media/ installation artist Sally Heller, filmmaker Cauleen Smith, photographer Frank Relle and lighting artist/ designer Helen Gifford.

Additional events hosted at arte projects at Prospect.1 will included a wonderful and engaging Prospect.1 panel discussion entitled Re-imagining New Artistic Landscapes after Fragmentation moderated by Cay Sophie Rabinowitz, Writer/ Curator Athens Bienniale with artists, curators and journalists including Dan Cameron, Director/ Prospect.1, Nato Thomson, Curator/ Creative Time,  Paul Laster, Editor/ Artkrush and Ron Bechet, Chairman of Department of Fine Arts/ Xavier University of Louisiana.

This first arte projects was created through the partnership, participation and generous support of Artadia, Creative Time, The Gremillion Group, POKE, Mother Design, Sotheby’s, Artkrush, Arthur Rodger Gallery, Republic National Distributing Company and many others.
